Kudalini & Yoga
The word Yoga, derived from Sanskrit, means yoke or union. It is a practice of Oneness. Students learn to center themselves, be present and aware, and identify with self.
“Kundal” is the coiled hair of the Beloved (the Infinite, Source, God) and "Ini" represents the feminine creative aspect. The word "kundalini” therefore means activating awareness and manifesting hidden, creative potential within. Practitioners often describe this style of yoga as transformational, powerful and empowering. Kundalini Yoga, brought to the United States in 1969 by Yogi Bhajan, is a yoga style that incorporates mind, body and spirit through kryias, deep relaxation with Gong, and meditation with pranayam (breath) and/or mantra. These yogic tools strengthen the central nervous system, helping you release stress and relax the body and mind.
Yoga, in general, is a healthful practice and is used and widely recommended by traditional doctors to treat back pain, stress, hypertension, as therapy for sports injuries, autistic children and patients at risk, with or recovering from stroke, heart attack and cancer.
